Our mentors come from diverse backgrounds, but share two common traits: they are accomplished leaders and they are committed to developing the leadership skills of young women.
Why Mentors Matter: Developing a professional network that includes mentors is important to emerging leaders – particularly women. Through mentors, young women can observe different leadership styles – and select from a menu of leadership traits with which to experiment. Moreover, mentors share stories about their own career paths which can inspire young women and bolster their resilience. And mentors help young women navigate career obstacles and opportunities – asking important questions and providing advice based on their own hard-won experiences.
The Leadership Crucible is always seeking accomplished women to volunteer as mentors.
The Commitment: each mentor…
- will be assigned 1-2 mentorees
- will be required to meet with her mentorees at least twice. These meetings can occur at a time and place that is convenient to you, for example: at your workplace, over a cup of tea, or during a meal
- will be encouraged to continue to meet periodically with her mentorees to help them grow as leaders and as women, as well as to help them navigate career challenges and opportunities
The Benefits: each mentor…
